Kerry Mathern, Teacher

Kerry is passionate about Pilates and loves sharing it with others. She has been practicing and studying Pilates since 2015. Although engaged in many types of exercise, Pilates has given her core strength, flexibility, agility, and most importantly, a strong and healthy back.

She was first introduced to Pilates by her dear friend, Claire Frechette, a Stott Certified instructor, and immediately fell in love with the work. In 2017/2018 she received her classical training and certification with 2nd Generation Master teachers, Richard Rossiter and Bonnie Grebe, of the Pilates Institute in Lafayette, Colorado. She later co-founded Pilates4Bodies in Lafayette, Colorado.

Kerry has been training and studying with Shari Berkowitz of The Vertical Workshop since 2019 when they first met. She has participated in and completed The Vertical Workshop Teacher Training Bridge Program in October 2022. She continues working on the advanced work, attending workshops nationally and internationally, and is devoted to deepening her knowledge and understanding of the classical Pilates method.

She holds a BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Human Biology from California State University, Hayward.

Kerry believes that Pilates can be life changing. Originally named Contrology by Joseph Pilates, Pilates is an exercise method that not only works your body but also your mind; it truly is a perfect balance of mind, body, and spirit. Pilates is a lifelong exercise method, and dedication to the method will help one stay agile, flexible, and strong both mentally and physically.

Kerry is a dedicated and caring teacher. She teaches with compassion and with intellect. She’s excited to help her clients reach their fitness goals, transform their bodies, and strengthen their minds through this incredible work.

When not practicing or teaching, Kerry enjoys hiking, baking, reading, listening to live music, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Paul, son, Michael, daughter, Emily, and German Shorthair Pointer, Auggie.
